Tent camping has always been a way to enjoy nature and the outdoors. Before the motor home and campers came into the picture, tent camping seemed like a great "getaway" and still is for many people who still enjoy it.
Setting up a tent can be difficult if you don't first scout out the area. There is noting worse than getting your tent all set up only to find that there are large objects poking you through the bottom of the tent. You will want to look for a fairly level spot that does not contain large rocks or tree roots that are causing the ground to be uneven.
In finding a location to set up your tent, you want to determine how large your tent is and walk out the area to check for sharp objects that might cause interference. Choose a location that is not in the wide open and where high wind gusts might sweep your tent away. Don't put your tent directly underneath or next to a tree in case of a lightning strike. Always prepare for bad weather conditions, even though it may be clear when you set up your tent.
Secure your tent with tent stakes and make sure that you have plenty of daylight when you begin. There is nothing worse than experiencing problems with a tent only to find that you have run out of daylight in the middle of it all.
You can add extra tie downs and attach them to nearby trees or bushes. Make sure that everyone knows how to get in and out of the tent to use the facilities during the night and that they know where the flashlight will be kept.
